I loved Astronomy from my children’s age. First I was impressed by a total solar eclipse that I could see from my house at age of 12. A couple of years later I built my first telescope using a glasses lens and a microscope ocular. The mount was a paiting easel. With this instrument I got the first views of the moon’s craters and I discover lenses chromatic aberration at their best.
Through all my life astronomy was one of my hobbies, somtimes active, some times dormient. Now that I’m retired this hobby has became my principal interest. Beeing an engineer what I really like is finding solutions to difficult problems, then build and test those solutions. Moreover I also like to improve existing design. More than an ATM (Amateur Telescome Maker) you may define me as an AOM or Amateur Observatory Maker. I’m sure not between the best astrophotographer. But anyway you cold find interesting solutions or hints to a lot of practical issues and problems.
There is a saying that “stupid men do not learn from their mistakes, while smart men are those that learn from their mistakes, but super smart men do learn from other’s mistakes”. Since my experieces are rich of mistakes then there is a lot for you here.
